Anthony Merulla is the 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open Champ

Anthony Merulla
Anthony Merulla scored one for the amateurs with his first place win at the 2014 Borgata Poker Open Championship.

Though the New York City resident calls himself an amateur, he adds $842,379 to his career earnings that were already better than $530,000.

Merulla survived more that 100 heads-up hands with second place finisher David Paredes to win the Borgata Championship and a WPT championship.

Here’s the final rundown on the championship event.
